Motorcycling can be a very high-pumping and adrenaline-rushing outdoor activity. However, the risk of accidents and injuries are high. Recent statistics show that fatalities because of motorcycling accident are increasing. Hence, it is important that every passionate riders be equipped with proper knowledge, techniques, and tips to prevent motorcycling accidents.
One very indispensable book that avid motorcycle riders should have is the paperback " Motorcycling Excellence: Knowledge, Strategies, and Skills for Safe and Fun Riding". I can consider this page-turner, the "Bible" of motorcycling. Pages are filled with essential facts and scientifically proven riding strategies that, if followed, will keep a rider from accident. The topics include proper rider attitude, appropriate motorcycling attire and gear, trouble shooting, and maintenance. It also covers simple and advance street skills, off-road strategies, and other vital information related to motorcycling.
The book is complete with great illustrations, colorful diagrams, and other graphic representations to bolster your reading and understanding of the concepts being explained. Since this must-have book is made by the Motorcycling Safety Institute, you can be sure that the lowdown here are reliable, helpful, and very practical.

Keeping safe while riding has always been my top priority. So I never rode without a trusty biker jacket. Once, I strolled into a motorbike gear shop to buy a new jacket since my old one is in need of retirement. There were the standard black leather and those with neon stripes. But I thought there must be more choices than these. In short, I went home and looked up jackets on the reliable internet service. Boy, talk about choices. I double checked to see if I wasn't logged on a GQ sort of site. It was a motorbike gear site alright. But the choices will make you think you'll use the jacket for a date or something and I am not talking about the jacket material.
They also have those bulky leathers, the neon-stripeds, and the logo jacket. But they also have other styles. I am being very general here, but there were summer jackets, winter jackets, and rain jackets. A plus point for the site is that they have mini discussions about the jackets. You know, material, why is it good for such weather, and the like. I think this is good news for riders who want to look cool AND good. Plus, riders can be safe without enduring heavy leather during summer holiday rides or insufficiently warm jackets during the cold months. I got the light khaki one (hey, it's summer).

I see a lot of cool motorcycle groups riding along the expressway. I don't know how they manage to ride in groups and not break up. I asked a friend of mine who's a member of a motorcycle club how they ride in groups. It turns out that they have all undergone the group riding course. I wasn't at all surprised, since there are motorcycle courses for everything else. It's very dangerous to ride along the streets on a motorcycle without a single knowledge on the safety rules of riding.
Just like what happens in the corporate setting where training courses are developed to hone management skills, motorcycling skills would also need enhancement through a group riding course. The group riding course is just a short motorcycle course. There are so many motorcycle clubs and group ride events nowadays, that a short course like this is a must. It's also very surprising to know that motorcycle rider who rides in groups is more likely to have an accident than a single motorcycle rider. So, if you're planning to join a motorcycle group, you better take this short course first.
This course would really help you understand how to ride in groups and how to avoid certain accidents. You can never tell when the skills you learn would come in handy. Also, you can already join the exciting outdoor festivals which may feature thousands of motorcycle riders, of course.

I never thought that the constantly changing weather should be considered when taking motorcycle courses. I just thought of it as just like any other car courses. Well, when I saw the motorcycle courses while browsing online, I noticed a winter riding course. Well, of course there's a winter riding course! How else can motorcycle riders control their motorcycles on those slippery roads during the winter? I thought that it was a good idea to try that course, so, I did.
The winter riding course does not only tackle the winter season's tricky conditions. The winter riding course also teaches the motorcycle riders how to ride during night time. As we all know, there have been many motorcycle accidents especially by night time. Many other vehicle drivers do not see motorcycle riders along the road. So, accidents tend to happen if neither the vehicles nor the motorcycle riders are careful.
The winter riding course teaches "control skills" in very difficult and poor situations. They would also be taught the proper strategies and "anticipation skills" during the cold winter season. The motorcycle riders would know how to maneuver on slippery surfaces. They would also be taught the proper assessment for such poor conditions. I think it's a fantastic and useful course for all the motorcycle riders.

I once thought that anyone could ride a motorcycle without any restrictions or limitations. As long as you know how to drive a motorcycle, then you can go anywhere you want. But, just like driving cars, you have to meet certain qualifications. Riding a motorcycle can be dangerous especially on free ways. I have seen so many motorists get into accidents on the television news. It's pretty gruesome. So, if I were you, I'd master riding a motorcycle first before venturing out into the road and you initially need a motorcycle permit.
So, what are the basic qualifications to be able to get a motorcycle permit? Well, you have to be at least 16 years old to ride a motorcycle around town. You also need to have a state driver's license. I think a student's permit would do. Of course, the most important thing is to pass a written test on motorcycle-riding. I think in some states, you also need to pass an actual riding test or you have to take a rider course.
When you're a beginner, you cannot carry a passenger with you. You also cannot ride your motorcycle on the streets when the sun goes down. Unlike cars, you are not obliged to get full insurance for your motorcycles. But, you have to pay for certain financial responsibility laws. Motorists under the age of 18 must also complete a rider course. You can finally rev up those motorcycle engines and ride around, just like motorcycle-lover Jay Leno.

I was chatting with a fellow biker down at the watering hole the other day. Not much hard stuff really, small talk about The Iron Chef and the key ingredient for the day, diabetes cropping up in kids nowadays, their age getting all the younger, stuff like that.
Chiefly, though, we were just lusting after the latest Honda Rebel, and, if ever, how our wives are definitely going to go over their heads with our new acquisitions.
Anyway, the conversation eventually drifted to waxes (we’re still in the realm of motorcycles, don’t worry), and suddenly my friend was raving about this liquid wax, Kit Bike Shine to be exact. Normally, he’s for solid wax since the sheen lasts longer, but with Kit, he found out he still gets the same superb results. All at a spray and a wipe of the cloth. One satisfied convert. The bloke must have forgotten: I’ve been telling him to try it out long time ago, because God knows I love what it does for my bike.
So there we were, two guys exchanging lessons about wax.

This is motorcycle is all about. Talking about one of the biggest motorcycle companies with renowned tradition, Harley Davidson is back in the limelight. With model, motorcycle addicts will sure get gaga. Imagine a motorcycle with a power of a car and the 115 horsepower will definitely be noticed. Add to that astounding feature is a light chassis packed with all the modern technology in the motorcycle industry. And this new model is not done with those. Additives like Engine Torque and several accessories will pump up this motorcyle in the road. More importantly, this model is fuel efficient and creates a perfect engine combustion lowering the level of pollutants being emitted in the exhaust. If all these stuff do not make this motorcycle great, then wait until the new models pile up.

If you're planning to buy a motorcycle, be sure that you know what it is exactly that you need or want. It's important for you to know these so you are able to purchase the one that you really need.
First of these types is the full dress motorcycles. They are ideal for long travels because of the comfort and convenience they provide the riders. They are usually big because of the added equipments on them. They have hard shell trunks on the back fender, dashboards and windshields. These also have a passenger seat at the back that has armrests. They also have suspensions more advanced compared to other types of bikes.
The second type is the cruisers. These are not built for long-distance traveling, instead they are used for one's riding pleasure. The seats are laid back and the foot controls are placed at the front. Choppers are a kind of cruisers that most people use only for hedonistic purposes.
Another type of motorcycle is the sports bike or the cafe racers. Sports bikes are best for riding in the mountains or speeding through towns. However, these bikes are not appropriate for long travels since they are not very comfortable considering the forward posture that you need to have in riding these bikes.
The hybrid dirt bikes are built for off-road riding pleasure. They have tall frames and are designed with high tailpipes. These either have the two stroke or the four stroke engines that are illegal on city streets.

Riding a motorcycle is always an adventure and a big advantage, too. You can go to the places you want to explore. Moreover, with a bike, you can always maneuver yourself out of a traffic jam. While riding a motorcycle can be fun, it can also be dangerous. That is why it is always necessary to learn the tricks and strategies in order to ensure your maximum safety. If you have a companion, you need to double your effort more.
First, before mounting your bike, you must check it and be sure that it is in the perfect condition for own safety and convenience on the road.
Second, during rainy seasons, ride carefully and look out for sand, oil, or debris scattered on the way.
Third, be extra-careful when passing by some metal surfaces such as manholes and train tracks since they are slippery.
Fourth, take along with you some basic tool kit or a flashlight especially when you are going for a long ride. Always be prepared since you'll never know what can happen.
Fifth, respect all the road signs and warning. Sometimes, you are tempted to speed up on the road. Yet failing to observe these road rules is often the major cause of motorcycle accidents.
Sixth and last, always drive with your helmet, eye shield and other protective accessories.

Riding motorcycles is something that makes one's heart thump a beat faster. There's just so much adrenaline rush when you feel yourself slicing through thin, riding your motocycle. It is something that most women do not do -- ride motorcycles.
However, almost nine percent of motorbike riders are comprised of lady riders. Looking at magazine pictures of women on motorbikes will shows that these women wear only thongs and swimsuits. They are seen sprawled on their motorcycles. However, this isn't what one sees in the real world.
Look around and you'll see that the pictures in magazines are nothing but to spice up the pages of the motorcycle magazines. There are some sites that show pictures of lady bikers. They aren't wearing thongs or bikinis.

No, the MSF isn't some shady government agency out to curtail our freedoms (although some hardcore bikers might feel differently). The MSF stands for The Motorcycle Safety Foundation and it aims to promote good ridng habits and safety for anybody who wishes to ride a two-wheeled vehicle.
Think of it as Driver's Ed for your motorcycle skills. The MSF also participates in government information campaigns regarding motorcycle safety and legislature, administers courses in motorcycle riding and teaches read courtesy, a trait that seems to be missing as of late.
Interested? Or just want a refresher course? Sign up with your nearest MSF office now!
