When you dig up dirt in motocross, we only see the thrill and adventure of speed in rough and bumpy terrains. It's exhilarating and it's wild. Every time you race, you don't only imbibe the perk of freedom and competition, you also sign up to
risk and danger. Although racers are geared up for safety, you can always hurt a knee.
One of my motorcycle racing fears is the
ACL tear. I know that Motocross is a man's turf where there's no room for crying. Unfortunately, I've seen a fellow racing aficionado suffer a great deal with his knee. They call it tear of the anterior cruciate ligament.
In motocross, your knee is always strained from relentless pressure in landing and in exerting the rigorous effort to swerve and lurch from the road tracks. It's common among racers, but my friend John even had to undergo surgery to treat his knee. Seeing his apprehensive girlfriend fidget in fear was almost unbearable for me. Not that it's life-threatening, but I realized that any minute in motocross can change a lifetime. Good thing there are also knee braces for the ACL tear. So every time I race, I get to see my doctor and therapist to have my knee checked regularly.
